Position Overview
As a Class A Driver, you will safely operate commercial vehicles such as tractor-trailers and flatbeds to transport materials efficiently and on time. You’ll play a critical role in maintaining our reputation by providing professional, customer-focused service at every delivery.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate Class A commercial vehicles safely and efficiently

  • Perform thorough pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections

  • Comply with all DOT regulations and company safety policies

  • Maintain accurate driving logs and delivery documentation

  • Work closely with warehouse staff to load, secure, and deliver orders

  • Provide courteous, professional service to customers at delivery sites

  • Full-time position

  • Monday – Friday, 6:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Responsibilities

Class A Driver Responsibilities

 

Class A Drivers are responsible for the safe and efficient operation of heavy-duty commercial vehicles to transport goods and materials to designated locations. Drivers must comply with all federal, state, and local transportation regulations, as well as company policies, to ensure safe, timely, and reliable deliveries.

 

Core Responsibilities Include:

  • Route Planning: Plan and adjust delivery routes based on traffic, weather, and road conditions to ensure on-time deliveries.

  • Loading and Unloading: Assist with loading and unloading cargo, ensuring materials are properly secured to prevent damage during transit.

  • Vehicle Inspections: Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections to identify mechanical or safety concerns and ensure vehicles are roadworthy.

  • Communication: Maintain clear and professional communication with dispatch and customers regarding delivery schedules, updates, and any changes.

  • Documentation Management: Accurately complete delivery logs, bills of lading, and other required documentation in compliance with company and regulatory standards.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to DOT hours-of-service regulations, safety guidelines, and required rest breaks to prevent fatigue and ensure compliance.

  • Vehicle & Cargo Security: Ensure the vehicle and cargo are properly secured and safe for operation at all times.

  • Maintenance Reporting: Promptly report maintenance or repair needs to keep vehicles in optimal operating condition.

  • Vehicle Cleanliness: Maintain a clean, organized, and professional vehicle appearance, both inside and out.

Qualifications for Success

 

Successful Class A Drivers demonstrate a clean driving record, strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, and the physical ability to lift and maneuver heavy materials as required.

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma (or equivalent) is preferred, though a combination of education and experience that provides the necessary skills and knowledge for successful job performance will qualify.
  • Must possess a valid Oregon Class A Driver’s license with a "T" endorsement (doubles, triples, tankers), Manual Transmission Experience, and be at least 21 years of age.
  • A clean driving record is required, along with the ability to pass a background check and drug test.
  • Medical Certification Clearance Card, FMSC Clearinghouse registration, and O.T. registration are required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional driving experience operating Class A vehicles and/or relevant training, with previous delivery experience in wholesale products and warehouse environments strongly preferred.
  • Previous warehouse or distribution experience is beneficial but not mandatory.
  • Must have excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of driving laws, regulations, adherence to speed limits, and familiarity with procedures in the event of an accident, either in the warehouse or while driving.
  • Ability to perform long hours of driving, as well as moving and heavy lifting, up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to work a five-day work week with flexibility for overtime, as needed.
  • Basic English proficiency for reading, writing, and oral communication.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to sequence tasks effectively (e.g., by size, alphabetically, or numerically) and group similar items together.

Work Environment

Physical Requirements:

  • The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.
  • Ability to lift items that weigh up to 50 lbs. regularly. This includes carrying, dragging, and walking with materials, as well as using a hand-truck.
  • Prolonged periods of standing or sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Specific vision abilities required for this job include distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

Environmental Conditions:

  • The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions.
  • Occasionally, the employee may be exposed to high, precarious places and vibration.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
