Overview

PACE Supply is seeking a motivated and driven Outside Sales Representative to support our Waterworks Division in the Sacramento, CA area.

 

This role is responsible for developing new business, growing existing accounts, and managing strong partnerships with underground contractors, municipalities, and key vendors. The Outside Sales Representative will develop and execute sales strategies aligned with divisional goals to drive revenue and profitability. This position plays a hands-on role in the bidding process, including follow-up to secure awarded projects, and regularly conducts job-site visits to support customer needs. Success in this role requires strong collaboration with internal branch teams and the ability to share market trends and competitive insights across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain strong relationships with key customers to deliver a high level of service, trust, and dependability.

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for customer needs, job-site support, and ongoing project coordination.

  • Gather and share market intelligence, customer feedback, and competitive insights to support sales strategies.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with vendor partners to ensure competitive pricing and support sales and profitability goals.

  • Collaborate with vendor partners to support product availability and market competitiveness.

  • Work closely with the Estimating team to provide pricing guidance aligned with customer strategies and market conditions.

  • Partner with Project Managers to ensure customer expectations are met throughout the lifecycle of awarded projects.

  • Participate in weekly sales meetings to review pricing, bidding activity, sales strategies, account performance, material requirements, and operational excellence.

  • Collaborate with internal branch teams to ensure alignment, effective communication, and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma (or equivalent) is preferred. A combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance of the job would qualify.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience within the Waterworks Industry. Strong knowledge of material and application.
  • 10+ years of experience in sales, estimating and project management within the Waterworks Industry is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Constuction Management preferred.
  • Ability to manage complex projects and multi-task.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to flourish with minimal guidance, be proactive, and handle uncertainty.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Proper Phone Etiquette, Phocas Dashboards, Zoom, Microsoft Office Suite Familiarity, Effective written and oral communication.
  • Valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record.

Work Environment

Physical Requirements:

  • The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.
  • Ability to lift items that weigh up to 50 lbs. regularly. This includes carrying, dragging, and walking with materials, as well as using a hand-truck.
  • Prolonged periods of standing or sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Specific vision abilities required for this job include distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

Environmental Conditions:

  • The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions.
  • Occasionally, the employee may be exposed to high, precarious places and vibration.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
